The Only Way You Get To Bloom
The Only Way You Get To Bloom
Poem and photo by Lee Ann Eckhardt Smith
Look to the
Small green sprouts
Pushing steadily
Up
Through crumbly soil
Towards the light.
Even a tulip bulb
Planted sideways
By mistake
Will turn upwards
Seeking the sun.
Up
Through resistance
Risking exposure
Finding your light.
It’s the only way you get to bloom.
