[dropcap]O[/dropcap]On January 1st, 2019, an all-day breakfast was hosted at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with the hopes that it will become an “Annual All Day Breakfast Drop-In” said Stan Pioro who was the principal organizer for the event. He added:

I saw a need. There are many people in our community that don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to spend the day with.

Over sixty people were served breakfast along with the opportunity to play board games, cards or to simply chat with friends and neighbours. The breakfast day provided an opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy each other’s company.

The real success of the day was the community support. Over $700.00 was raised to support the Richmond Foodbank that helps over 30 families each month.

Isabel Thompson who helps administer the Richmond Foodbank said:

There is a need in our village throughout the year. Many families access the Foodbank every month. The seven hundred dollars raised will go towards supplementing the supplies that each family receives.

None of this would have been possible without the support of the volunteers who came to help. The Richmond Foodbank is always looking for donations, both monetary and food donations.

The Richmond Foodbank is administered out of St. Paul’s United Church, 3452 McBean Street.
