One teen killed, another injured in weekend collision near Richmond
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) responded to a fatal collision involving off-road vehicles in rural Ottawa over the weekend. Tragically, a young person lost his life and another one was seriously injured.
At approximately 4 pm on Sunday April 18th, OPS Frontline Officers responded to a collision involving off-road vehicles and a van at the intersection of Franktown and Munster roads. According to the investigation, three dirt bike riders were heading north bound on Munster Rd. At the intersection of Franktown Rd., two of the riders collided with a vehicle that was heading east bound on Franktown Rd. Both young riders were transported to hospital.
A 14-year-old boy died as a result of injuries he suffered in the collision. The second rider, a 15-year-old boy, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the OPS Collision Investigation Unit. No further details are available at this time. The Ottawa Police extends condolences to the family of the victim.
