McBean St. bridge closure, April 15 to April 19 and pedestrian shuttle service

submitted by Councillor Moffatt’s office

The City has received the “Girder Erection Schedule” from the contractor on the McBean Bridge project. The erection of girders will require the full closure of McBean Street between April 15th to April 19th.

If there are any changes to the schedule, they will be posted. Signs will be installed two weeks in advance (like last year’s full closure during the demolition of the first half of the bridge).

As well, attached is the route and stop locations that a shuttle bus (for pedestrians looking to use the bridge) will be taking during the closure. The contractor will have a 46 passenger bus running from 7am to 7pm on April 16, 17 and 18. They will also have a wheelchair accessible bus with 3WC and 8 seats running from April 16th at 7am to April 18th at 7pm. The shuttle service will be run by 417 bus lines.

  1. I’m unable to safely ride my wide-recumbent on “regular streets”, and as it’s too wide, but without the bridge, I’m not able to ride, pretty much anywhere. Is there an update as to how long it will be closed for?
