[dropcap]T[/dropcap]The title for this post, borrowed from the official Jock River Race website, pretty much sums up the scope of this race which has become a “right of spring”.

The race is open to competitive seasoned marathoners as well as those who just want to participate.  According to the official website: “Racing experience is not required, simply a desire to join a fun event and to get an early put-in on the water.”  Registration is now open.

This is the 48th annual edition of the race and is bound to be an interesting one given the current water levels and the amount of rain in the forecast. A late spring has already delayed the race and paddlers should monitor the Jock River Race Website for any further announcements as race day approaches. The race date is currently set for April 27th.

We will have to see if last years record turnout is surpassed. To be sure there are bound to be some thrills if last years race is any indication!
